Pupils qualify for spelling bee semi finals

Among the talented pupils who qualified to go through to the semi finals of The Times Spelling Bee in May, are pupils from Westcliff and Wallington schools. The pupils from both schools have worked hard to get through to the semis, and are hoping to make it to the grand final in June 2011.

When you think about it, it’s quite understandable that Mr Grumpy is the way he is. Living in Happyland, the fictional land in the Mr Men books where everyone is sickeningly happy all the damn time, Mr Grumpy is constantly in a bad mood – and really, who can blame him? If surrounded by annoyingly joyous people all the time, almost anyone would be tempted to grouch a little, to bring everything to a natural level.

Poor spelling and grammar leads to discovery of fake wine bottles

A warning has been issued by Surrey County Council Trading Standards after bottles of fake wine were discovered recently. The bottles of fake wine, supposedly Jacob’s Creek, were uncovered when incorrect spellings were found on the labels. (more…)

eHow reacts to Panda rumours with a bang

eHow owner Demand Media has reacted to rumours of the impact of the Google Panda Update with a forthright statement, released earlier this week. The owner of the how-to article website, which reportedly lost 66% of its visibility in the search engines, emphasised that the algorithm change had resulted in only a small traffic loss. (more…)
