Twitter making changes to improve user experience

To make it easier for Twitter users to follow hot topics, reply tweets are now displayed in chronological order.

It is believed that the new layout, which was rolled out on Thursday, will enable users to easily follow conversations on the network.

Twitter said in a blog post:

“Tweets that are part of a conversation are shown in chronological order so it’s easier for you to follow along. You’ll see up to three tweets in sequence in your home timeline; if you want to see more, you can tap a tweet to see all the replies, including those from people you don’t follow.”

The company likewise announced that people are now able to report single Tweets as spammy or abusive directly through Twitter.com and Android systems.

As part of a drive to improve its services, Twitter also recently purchased Trendrr, a new social-TV firm.

The firm’s Cutatorr product will be brought in to allow TV programmes to easily present a newsfeed of tweets discussing the show.

Trendrr’s CEO, Mark Ghuneim, said that the start-up now plans to wind down its other product, Trendrr.TV.

Twitter’s purchasing of Trendrr follows a similar move earlier this year, in which the social site bought Bluefin Labs, a competitor of Trendrr, for around $90 million.

In May, Twitter integrated Bluefin’s technology to introduce a product that allows marketers to target promoted Tweets towards the users most likely to have seen their adverts on TV, as judged by a their watching habits.
