Wouldn’t it be great if you could get to the top of the SERPs without having to put all of the months of effort in? If there was a way you could jump straight up, almost as soon as you decided that something had to be done, life would be so much easier. Well, there is. All you have to do is be absolutely, one hundred percent unique.
If you can manage to come up with a site on a topic that no-one has thought of before, your field of competition will be empty. As soon as Google picks up on your keywords, you’ll shoot to the top. However, where do you go from there?
The trouble with this approach is that you’re in a field no-one wants to see. A lot of site owners aim for the stars in the rankings, without knowing what this will really achieve. In the end, it’s much better to appear in the top 10 for a high-traffic search term than to be top dog for something nobody searches for.
Some SEO sales jobs push top rankings as a sales point. It’s important to be aware that rankings are only part of the equation for success. Traffic, market needs and your website all play a major part.
For those of us who haven’t had the fortune to land on an empty field of competition, search engine optimisation will still involve site improvements, link building, and a little patience. In the end, it provides much bigger dividends.
