Social Networking is another avenue for content

Social Networking is another avenue for content

Your own website isn’t the only place where you can add content in order to boost your search engine rankings. While the content on your website is the most important aspect of your SEO (regardless of what some SEO agencies may tell you) the content on other sites linking to your website is also important.

As links can be hard to build (and often expensive) one of the best methods for link building is using social networking websites such as Facebook, MySpace and Twitter. By creating accounts for your business on those websites you’re able to link them to your website, generating links and traffic whenever you update your status on Facebook or write a Tweet on Twitter.

Facebook even allows you to populate a Facebook page with your own feed from your website, which means that when you post on your website you’re updating Facebook at the time, reaching new potential website visitors and customers.

Writing content for social networking websites uses the same principle as writing for your website, but remember that your audience is slightly different. Content needs to be shorter, punchier and easily digestible.
