Share your insights and advice with new LinkedIn feature

LinkedIn announced last week that it has released a brand new tool that will allow people to share knowledge on the platform in a new way.

LinkedIn is marketing this as a feature to help you to grow your following and boost your reputation, while also helping the LinkedIn community.

To use the new Collaborative Articles feature, you can either search or browse for articles, and it will also show up in your feed or as a pop-up notification in the next couple of weeks.

Once you have clicked on the notification, you will be taken to an article and then there will be a highlighted section saying ‘Help unlock community knowledge with us’. Scrolling down from this, there will be a field that gives you a few prompts. This is where you can type up your contribution. The minimum you will be able to enter is 125 characters, while the maximum is 750.

Once you have contributed to an article, you will be given a badge in your skills section next to the related topic you have written about. This will help you build credibility on the LinkedIn platform.

Even though this new feature sounds great, it does come with one or two possible issues. Search Engine Land has noted that some people may collaborate much more regularly than others, and that this could cause more spam on the LinkedIn platform as people seek to increase their authority and reputation on the platform, yet do so by producing poor or unhelpful content.
