Revenue increases for Google UK in face of recession

Co-founder of Google, Larry Page is celebrating the successful launch of Google+, with Google revenue on the increase, despite talk of a recession. Google income in the UK increased by seven percent in the three months to September, with $1.05bn being generated by advertising online and mobile advertising. However, revenue for Google in other parts of the world rose to $10bn, an increase of 33 percent, leaving the UK behind.

The revenue generated in the UK represents 11 percent of the total income, in comparison with last years 12 percent. The rise in profits for Google resulted in share prices for the company increasing to $594.53, an increase of six percent. Larry Page, CEO said:

“People are flocking to Google+ at an incredible rate and we are just getting started.”

According to Page, Google+ had already seen billions of photos shared digitally. He also said that features used on the social media network, Google+ will be incorporated with other online features. Page is enthusiastic about Google+ adding that the challenge to Facebook is beginning to work. Since its launch on 20th September, the social media site now has 40 million users. However, it has a long way to go before becoming a threat to the 800 million users of Facebook.
