Google has announced a new feature that is set to be added to Google Business Profile listings (formerly known as Google My Business listings), which will allow people to gain more visibility for their business’ products.
Google has announced a new option within the Google Business Profile Manager that allows you to set products as “special”. By setting a product as special, these products will be featured at the top of your products list in your Google Business Profile listing.
The new feature can be seen in the below screenshot. To set your product at the top of product section of your listing, you must tick the “Mark as Special” tick box:
According to Search Engine Roundtable, users who have started using the new feature have sent around screenshots on Twitter showing that the new products are set as pending and awaiting approval when they are first published. This therefore shows that Google must be validating products before they are allowed to be set as special and feature at the top of the product listing section in your Google Business Profile listing.
The new feature will be useful for eCommerce and local businesses who want to gain visibility for the products they are selling on Google, and it will be particularly useful for those who want to feature their main, best-selling products in a prominent position. The new feature seems to be rolling out gradually, as many owners of Google Business Profile listings currently don’t have the option when creating or editing a product in their listing.
