A photograph of President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle has broken the record for having the most ‘Likes’ of any photo that has been posted on Facebook social media site. The photograph was taken following the President’s victory at the elections, with more than three million people ‘liking’ the photograph. A caption has been added to photo of the couple sharing an embrace, which reads “Four more years”.
Comments have been posted by over 144,000 people, with many of them offering congratulations on the President’s election victory. The photograph has also been shared over 350,000 times. The picture has also broken records on Twitter, to become the most popular Tweet since the social media site began. Retweets add up to a huge 630,000, becoming a favourite over 213,000 times. Justin Bieber previously held the title for most popular Tweet, but the photo of the President and his wife has now taken the lead. According to figures released by Twitter, over 31 million posts which were connected to the elections were Tweeted all through the day. As the President’s victory was announced, over 327,452 Tweets were posted every minute.
Both Romney and Obama used social media during the run-up to the elections, gaining support and encouraging people to vote.
