The Post Office has launched a series of Vine videos to remind the public that their last chance to have Christmas cards delivered on time is approaching.
The short clips were made in collaboration with Mindshare, a global media firm, reminding users that Friday 20th December is the last posting date of the festive season.
The Post Office’s manager of social media, Darren Jones, called the video sharing app a “growing” platform, explaining that Vine offers the company a creative way to stand out online and convey important messages to its customers.
Laura Jones, Mindshare’s account director, said:
“To create the Vines, we used a stop-motion technique and some hand-drawn illustrations.
“As a platform, Vine is fun and light hearted, but these 6 second clips show how it can also be informative.”
Vine, which allows its users to share and create short video clips, was bought by Twitter in 2012. The micro blogging site now forms a central part of both the Post Office’s internet marketing strategy and its approach to customer service.
One of the company’s Vines is an animation in which a short Christmas message is handwritten onto a red backdrop, which then folds up to become an envelope that turns into a heart showing the last posting date. Another provides gift wrapping ideas.
The Post Office isn’t the only organisation to take to Vine recently in a bid to expand its reach; earlier this month, the Treasury targeted a younger audience by using the app to explain the key points of Chancellor George Osborne’s autumn statement.
