New Google search feature shows businesses with reviews

Google is currently testing a new feature in search results that enables users to have more options when looking for businesses related to their query in their local area.

In recent days, the search engine optimisation (SEO) community has been talking about new features being shown in search results, as I mentioned in a blog earlier this year. A new feature has been seen in the last few days that enables searchers to see reviews of businesses in their local area. This will help searchers to see if a business is trustworthy, and to build credibility.

With this new update, having a Google Business Listing is key, and making sure that this is optimised and also has reviews from customers is required for your business to show up in search results. If you don’t have any reviews on your Google Business Listing at the moment, this is the time to start prompting customers to review your business through the platform, and Google Business Listing Manager can help you do that.

How can I get people to share a review on my Google Business Listing?

Firstly, you need to make sure that you have a Google Business Listing setup for your business, and that you have access to it through the Google Business Listing Manager. If not, you need to create a listing.

Once you have access and have optimised your listing, you can go to the ‘Home’ section and scroll down until you see the ‘Get more reviews’ section that looks something like this:

Then you need to click the ‘Share review form’ button, which will allow you to share the link to your review form on Facebook, WhatsApp and Twitter. If you want to just copy the link, all you need to do is click ‘Twitter’ and it will load up a post. You can then simply copy the URL in the post and share this link with your customers.

This feature is currently being tested, but it will more than likely be shown in search results in the future, so making sure you have reviews from your customers is essential on your Google Business Listing if you want to build trust.
