New Google headquarters combine work and play

Google employees will never want to leave work as the new London headquarters reveal the latest amenities to keep the workforce entertained during the day. The new building is situated in Covent Garden, London covering 16,000 square feet. Boasting a Union Jack theme, the building has some of the best employee facilities associated with Google.

Designed by Penson, the Google headquarters feature a dance studio, gym, an event hall which has been nicknamed “The Town Hall” and an area for employees to grow their own vegetables. During a working day, Google employees are encouraged to come up with new ideas while enjoying the panoramic views of London from one of the rooftop gardens. The various areas of the building have been given names by Penson, including Allotments, Secret Gardens, Google Park and Grannies Flat, giving the work space a playful edge.

Materials used in the Google building are mostly recycled or reclaimed, in compliance with Google’s “Red List”. Small timber tubs are situated in the Allotments, with a waiting list for each tub. If any are neglected, someone from the waiting list gets a chance to take over the tub. Private booths on the balcony have been created with hedges, enabling employees to work outdoors when the weather is fine.

Google is always at the forefront of new ideas and technology for its own employees, search engine optimisation specialists and its users. Companies are keen to make Google an integral feature of its SEO campaign, whether situated in Liverpool or London.
