When it comes to maintaining a consistent blog on your website, finding ideas to write about is often the least of your problems, especially if you’re particularly knowledgeable about your chosen field or subject.
Writing the blog in a way that is interesting, informative and useful for your audience is often the trickiest part.
In this blog, we’re taking a look at a few ways you can ensure all of your blog posts make for an engaging read.
Pick an interesting subject
If you’re an expert in your field, you can be forgiven for finding certain subjects and topics to be more interesting than they actually are for the common internet user. However, we’re not sure you can be forgiven for taking the time to write a blog on a subject that nobody but you actually cares about.
Make sure you choose a topic that will be interesting, or at least useful, for somebody searching the internet. This way, your blog is likely to receive more clicks, and you’ll be able to bring more traffic to your website as a whole.
Use reliable and accurate information
When somebody is visiting your website, to help them understand a topic they are unsure about, it is your job to make sure the information you provide is useful. As an expert in your field, this shouldn’t be an issue. Still, don’t be afraid of doing a bit of research yourself to solidify your own knowledge and provide the most relevant, up-to-date perspective on the entire internet.
Use a catchy headline
Clickbait can be a dangerous practice, but a necessary one. There’s a lot of competition out there, so you need to stand out as the blog people want to read. In our opinion, there’s no better way of doing that than with an enticing title. If this blog was titled ‘4 helpful pieces of advice for writing a solid blog post’, we’re sure you’d be less likely to click on it compared to the snappier ‘How to write an engaging blog post’.
Use a call to action
Essentially, the aim of your blog post is to bring more eyes to your website and, ideally, gain more business. For this reason, you should always encourage your reader to take the next step after reading your blog, which will usually come in the form of exploring your expertise further by using your services. This way, you can find a way to convert a blog reader to a paying customer or client, simply through your writing.
