How to write a CTA that people will act on

How to write a CTA that people will act on

A call to action (CTA) is a tool used in digital marketing to help point customers in the direction you wish them to take.

An effective CTA can be used for anything you’re trying to promote – whether that’s getting your audience to sign up to a weekly newsletter, subscribe to a YouTube channel or purchase a new product.

A good call to action will usually entail a short, snappy piece of content with clear direction on how the consumer can complete the transaction. This can be followed by a pop-up box or a colourful button that users can easily identify and click on.

It can also be beneficial to create a sense of urgency in your audience, by adding a time constraint – for example, “offer ends Friday!” – which can help give your customers an extra nudge, as no-one likes to feel that they’re missing out.

You can include a call to action on any form of media; whether it’s in the form of an email, a social media post or even a video, so long as you’re promoting something, you’ll need to be transparent with how your audience can take the next step to completing the transaction.

It’s all well and good getting your customers excited about your product, or whatever else it may be that you’re offering – but if they don’t know which direction to take, you can leave them scratching their heads, and the conversion may be lost.

By cementing your campaign with a clear, concise path for your target customers to follow, you’ll have them arriving at your virtual doorstep in no time.
