LinkedIn has a handy feature where, if you don’t want to see a user’s posts in your newsfeed, you can choose to mute people who aren’t connected with you, and unfollow those who are a connection of yours.
This functionality was released back in 2021, and it’s great for a prolific poster who’s a connection-of-a-connection and you don’t want to see them clogging up your feed anymore, or for someone who’s posts you’re not a fan of, but you don’t want to seem rude and unconnect with them. However, what happens if you change your mind and you want to see their posts again?
Luckily, there is an easy way to undo these actions, all in one place, meaning you don’t have to go to the profile of every single person you’ve muted/unfollowed to reverse it. Simply follow the below steps:
1. First, you want to go to the ‘Settings & Privacy’ page. This can be found by clicking on your ‘Me’ dropdown, which is accessible by clicking on your profile picture from the top nav bar on both desktop and on the mobile app
2. Next, you want to head to ‘Account preferences’ – if you’re on a desktop, it should automatically load onto this tab
3. After this, locate the ‘General preferences’ section. Under this heading, you’ll see a ‘People you unfollowed’ section. Click this
4. You should now see a list of the people you’ve muted or unfollowed, along with the option to refollow or unmute them
While the unfollow and mute features are useful, the ultimate goal of course is to be putting out content that is engaging and high quality on social media platforms like LinkedIn and on the wider web. That way, people will be invested in what you post and will want to see more of what you create, not less.
