How many links should I use in a blog post?

Linking to other pages of you website in your blog posts is a good way of passing link power through your website. The best way to do it is to use keyword rich anchor text on your links when you link to other pages and other posts, such as the name of an article or service. Using generic text in your links, such as ‘click here’ or ‘read more’ do very little for SEO, unless you’re trying to rank for ‘click here’!

One question many people ask is how many links can I use in a blog post? There’s no definitive answer to this, but less is most assuredly more.

Think of it this way, each page of your website (including your blog posts) has a certain amount of power, or link juice, to pass on to other pages of your website. If you have ten links in an article (which is too many by the way) you’re spreading your link juice between ten other pages. This is spreading your juice very thinly.

If however you have one link, you’re passing all of the page’s power to one page, meaning you’re giving that page a big boost.

So what’s too many? There’s no definite answer, but for every link you add you’re reducing the impact of the others, so keep them to a minimum.
