The answer to that is very important and yes, your hosting selection can affect your search engine rankings. For example, if you want to rank well in the UK results you should ideally have your website hosted in the UK. This isn’t as easy as it seems because some ‘UK’ companies actually use servers located in other countries, such as the USA and Germany, because of the cheaper costs of hardware. This means that your website will be physically served from a server located in another country, often without you even knowing it!
Another aspect to hosting affecting your SEO is the uptime of your host. Your website will be constantly accessed by search engine spiders looking for new updates, as the more your site is indexed the more regularly it will be cached and the quicker your new content will be listed within the SERPs. However, if your website is down at the time the spiders visit, the search engines have nothing to index. If Google sees your site down constantly it won’t offer it up as a result when someone searches for keyphrases related to your industry.
Choose your web host carefully and do not go by who is the cheapest.
