Google has announced a new way to use structured data using Syntax Graph Merge, which results in mixing your schema formats together.
What is schema and structured data?
Schema is code that can be added to your website. If you’re using a plugin like Yoast or Rank Math on WordPress, then plugins like these generate the schema for you, but you can add additional custom schema to your site to help search engines to better understand the content on your site.
There are two options for structured data. These are JSON-LD and Microdata, which you can now combine into one piece of structured data to help you to add the code more easily to your website.
What is the difference between Microdata structured data and JSON-LD?
JSON-LD is normally added to the head section of the HTML (which is where your meta title and description are supposed to be added to the HTML code of your website) but can also be added to the body of the webpage. JSON-LD is the most preferred format for structured data as it’s easy to maintain and can be easily understood and is easier to troubleshoot if you’re having any issues with the code.
Microdata is markup that is integrated within the HTML code attributes within the content of your site, for example Microdata looks like this:

With the new update from Google, previously you wouldn’t be able to combine the structure data, but with this new update, you can now communicate to Google what the main content on your site is about with combined different types of schema.
