Google to invest more into YouTube video content

Although Google invested more than $100 million into YouTube only a year ago, the company is set to invest even more. The most successful content on YouTube is to receive funding from Google to add even more original content in an attempt to maintain the site’s position as favourite video sharing destination.

Content creators received funding from Google in 2011 to provide interesting and unique content. Now Google wants to maintain the number one spot and is set to invest even more. Web users access YouTube for many reasons; to find information, instructional videos, music and entertainment. Millions of searches are made on Google every day, with users looking for information or video content. For this reason, YouTube is featured in the search engine optimisation of a large number of companies around the world. Previously, payments were made to creators of content of $1m to $5m to encourage regular unique content for YouTube. This time only the content creators who are among the top 30 or 40 per cent of successful creators will receive investment.

Originally, Google hopes to compete with TV by providing original and unique content, especially if it was associated with top film producers and Hollywood Studios. However, viewers wanted more than celebrity names and programmes which were popular with younger people became more successful, including cars, music sports and humour. The SEO campaign of most companies will include YouTube, especially as the top channels have more than one million views weekly and more than 100,000 people subscribe to the top 33 channels.
