Recent reports indicate that Google will soon introduce a new service, which will enable consumers to utilise cloud based storage for their online content. The feature has been named Google Drive and it is thought that at least five gigabytes of storage will be accessible without charge, while it will be possible to gain more storage space for a fee.
Expert opinion suggests that the new product could push Facebook, Google’s rival, into venturing into the cloud storage experience. Cloud storage is becoming increasingly popular, as users access their files and content from different devices and places. According to the principle analyst of Ovum research company Richard Edwards, the launch of cloud storage by Google could prompt others to take action. He also believes that it may be the incentive for Facebook to acquire cloud service, perhaps by purchasing Dropbox. He further added:
“I would see this as an extension to its Google Docs offering and it could provide value to its social network Google+, allowing the sharing of files that are too big to email.”
Edwards also said that Google Drive would be expected to work in harmony with a variety of devices that people now use. The results of a recent survey conducted by Goldsmith University on behalf of Rackspace revealed that 500 of the 2,000 respondents reckoned that the value of their digital possessions in personal cloud storage was around £200.
The consistent improvements made by Google to enhance the experience of users may occasionally make some SEO jobs more complex. However, whether a company is based in Chester or elsewhere in the world, its SEO campaign and constant updates are crucial to its success.
