Google launches awareness campaign for social network

A campaign to raise awareness of Google+ is set to be launched very soon, demonstrating the ability to share real time information with others in a way that other social media networks are unable to do. This will be the first UK campaign for Google+, which will highlight its positive aspects in an attempt to encourage more active users of the site.

The campaign will focus on features that help users to share information with the people they choose. Google Hangout and Circles will feature strongly, offering the ability to select a specific group of people to video chat and share other content with. Campaigns which are similar to the ones for Google Chrome will be aired, featuring events that capture the hearts of an audience, like sharing the news of a first child being born. Google are aiming to make people aware that everyday events can be shared with others in real time, hopefully encouraging engagement with the site.

Speaking to Marketing week, the EMEA director of consumer marketing for Google, Obi Felten said that Google realised the need to ensure awareness and show the relevance of Google+ to peoples’ lives. He went on to add that it is complicated to explain in brief and the best way to educate consumers about the product is to demonstrate it.

According to Felten, Google is unique as it integrates all its products, complementing the service provided for users. Google is central to the search engine optimisation campaigns of a number of businesses, from Ellesmere Port to the US.
