Google’s Knowledge Graph has recently been improved to provide more information while making its search feature a lot more fun. The Knowledge Graph was launched earlier this year and has proved to be extremely popular with Google users. In addition to providing the information searched for, Google now presents further data to supplement a query.
The Knowledge Graph has a section labelled ‘People also search for’ and it is this section which has been affected most by the update. Previously, this section would give a list of topics which were related to the original search query. However, no information was provided to let the searcher know how the topics connected to your original search. Following the update, clicking on the image, or even just hovering over it, will result in more detail about how the image is linked to the initial query.
This update may have an impact on the search engine optimisation of company websites, adding another dimension for those in SEO jobs.
Businesses from Chester and all over the UK will no doubt be interested in the latest development from Google. Last week, Google engineer Golan Pundak posted on the Insights blog:
“Search is a lot about discovery, and the Knowledge Graph, our map of real-world people, places and things, is designed to help you find new information easily.”
The Eword’s senior developer, Adrian Mursec, stated that not only was it a good idea to make using a search engine fun – the feature could be useful too.
