Google introduces visuals to new AI search features

Through the use of AI, Google’s search experience will be receiving an update to make general searches much more user friendly and efficient in terms of finding relevant and important information.

This will be done by introducing a summary box at the top of each search with any information that Google considers useful, relevant and current. Whether that be articles, web pages, images or videos, the summary box could become essential for future searches, saving you a lot of time when trying to find exactly what you’re looking for.

The summary box will be easily differentiated from the general search, providing a quicker solution to what you’re looking for. Although this might not always be beneficial, it is an interesting integration which will allow general internet searching to be much less time consuming and stressful, especially when attempting to seek the knowledge necessary for your enquiry.

Saving you the trouble of scrolling and clicking through pages of articles, the AI-generated summary will provide any key information you will need at the top of your search. Google will display the date each item was published beside the webpage itself, so you can identify how useful this information will be as well as its credibility. Furthermore, the idea of displaying a variety of types of content will allow you to consume the information based on your own preference. For example, if you are a visual learner, you can use the videos or images displayed to resolve your issue, rather than having to read through articles that might seem overcomplicated.

This will all be made possible through Google’s AI-powered Search Generative Experience (SGE). Although it is still in its early testing stages, Google consider it to be the future of searching the web, and will become more frequent in Google searches over time.

We’re always looking to stay on top of the latest developments in search and artificial intelligence, so if you have any questions regarding SGE and how it might impact your website, please feel free to get in touch with us at Engage Web.
