A new East London tower block is now home to 90 start-ups thanks to Google Campus. The block of offices is situated close to Silicon Roundabout, as it has been dubbed by those in the tech circles, and is right in the centre of Tech City. The opening of the Campus was just a couple of weeks ago, with the opening ceremony performed by George Osborne.
A mural of graffiti was placed in the reception of Google Campus and is already full. Although the hub has only recently opened, there are already 800 technology start-ups waiting for a place in the Campus. In his opening speech, the Chancellor said that Tech City had developed rapidly in the last 18 months, soaring to 700 companies from only 200 previously. The Chancellor ended his speech by saying:
“To borrow a phrase from Google – let’s fill this town, and this country, with start-ups.”
The lease of the Campus has been secured for the next ten years, while the building has been lavishly designed, thought to have cost more than £5 million. The Campus collaboration lets new entrepreneurs register on the Campus London website free of charge, so that they can access the networking space and the basement café at any time between 9am and 6pm Monday to Friday.
Google Campus is yet another way that the search engine giant helps businesses, which is the reason that the company is at the heart of a creative SEO campaign for companies, whether they are situated in London or Liverpool.
