Facebook announces bumper profits

Facebook has unveiled its user figures and financial earnings for Q3 2015, and the results are staggering.

The social media site’s monthly active users (MAUs) has increased 4.02% over Q2; in numerical terms, it’s up from 1.49 billion to 1.55 billion. This has gone against the common thinking that Facebook has hit saturation point, or is losing touch with certain demographics. Rather than not displaying any meaningful growth, the platform is expanding at a rate that is impressive.

Facebook also revealed that its daily active users (DAUs) now stands at more than one billion. This figure is something that it places more value on and is more indicative of how the social media site is faring. This figure also endorses the approach Facebook took to rolling out new features and other updates, which it has been able to do without making its current users feel alienated. The site even managed to add around 4 million more users in its core market of North America.

Another figure of note is that more that 65% of users log into the site each and every day.

Its mobile results were also impressive, with DAUs increasing by 5.4% to 894 million. This has had an impact on its revenue, which rose $459 million (£298 million) from Q2 to the figure of $4.5 billion (£2.9 billion). Its main revenue stream was adverts, which accounted for $4.29 billion (£2.78 billion), and increase of 45%.

Another gobsmacking figure is the number of video views per day; this stands at 8 billion, which is a 100% increase since April of this year, and probably explains why Zuckerberg and co. are working on their own YouTube-like video tab for the platform.
