Writing content for your website isn’t about writing slick marketing copy or promotional text. It’s not about sales or merchandising and despite what some people think, you’re not writing poetry or a novel.
You don’t have to be a professional writer to write for your own website. It’s more important that you know your subject and are passionate about it, then you’ll write better copy, more interesting copy that people will want to read.
Of course not everyone has the time to write their own copy on their website as keeping a website updated often takes a backseat with performing the day-to-day work of running your business. If this is the case then you can outsource your content to professionals, but be sure that you’re using someone who knows how to research your topic, understand your business, and above all else, knows how to write content for SEO purposes.
