Are Buying Guides coming to mobile search results?

A feature that could be introduced to mobile search results soon will offer a new opportunity for your content marketing campaigns.

Called ‘Buying Guides’, the new feature is currently being assessed by Google, and will enable searchers to select dropdowns within mobile search results that give them more information about the product they are searching for. Google has confirmed to Search Engine Land that this new feature is currently being tested and could be rolled out to mobile search results.

This update comes after Google’s recent release of new features to mobile search results, reflecting the shift towards mobile in favour of desktop over recent years. According to Statista in the last quarter of 2021, 54.4% of website traffic worldwide was visitors on a mobile device, and in fact it has been over five years now since mobile overtook desktop for traffic.

According to Search Engine Land, the new search engine results page (SERP) feature will look something like this:

It will allow users to easily see a price range for the product they are looking for, and will also enable users to find out more about brands that sell and manufacturer the product, such as the product size.

The new feature still has some updates to complete to make sure that the data is correct. In the image above, the new feature also talks about the bat as in the animal, slightly misunderstanding the query, but this will be sorted before the feature is released across mobile search results.
